Nobody chooses a vet casually. Your reviews are read word by word.
The problem: the grateful majority goes home quiet
Vet clinics see the full emotional range of any service business in a single day. The puppy's first vaccination — a family milestone. The senior cat's dental that went smoothly after weeks of worry. The owner who came in terrified and left with a healthy animal and a clear bill.
Those owners are intensely grateful. They are also heading home to a recovering pet and a disrupted day, and writing a public review is the furthest thing from their mind. The gratitude evaporates privately — into a thank-you at the counter that nobody else ever hears.
The result is a profile that undersells you, and in this trade underselling is expensive. An owner with a sick animal doesn't skim reviews — they read them, one by one, looking for a clinic they can trust with something they love.
Why reviews carry the whole decision
A new pet owner choosing a vet has no way to judge clinical skill. What they can judge is how the clinic treats people and animals, and that judgement comes entirely from reviews: "the vet explained the options and the costs before doing anything", "they didn't push tests we didn't need", "they were so gentle with our frightened dog."
The billing honesty matters more than in almost any other category, because vet bills are opaque and owners know it. Reviews describing transparent pricing and no unnecessary upsells are the single strongest signal your profile can carry. A clinic with 150 such reviews wins the new puppy registrations, the dental work, the long relationships. A clinic with 15 reviews — however good the medicine — loses them to the louder clinic down the road.
How ScoreJack works for veterinary clinics
The trigger is a completed visit — and in a vet clinic, you choose which visits qualify.
That last point matters, so here it is plainly: not every visit should get a review request. A euthanasia, a bad diagnosis, a pet that didn't make it — no thank-you message should ever follow those. ScoreJack's default is that you add the owner yourself: name and WhatsApp number, ten seconds at the desk, after the visits that ended well — the vaccinations, the successful procedures, the "all clear" rechecks. If you automate with a webhook from your practice software, filter the trigger to routine visit types, and keep the sensitive ones human.
For the visits you do ask after:
- About two hours after the visit, the owner gets a warm WhatsApp thank-you with a one-tap link to your Make-It-Right page, where the Google review button sits. They're home, the pet is resting, the worry is over.
- If nothing happens in 48 hours, one gentle nudge.
- If still nothing at seven days, one final ask — then it stops forever.
The sequence stops instantly on any reply, link click, submitted feedback, or opt-out word. Messages send during business hours only.
ScoreJack takes a name and a mobile number — there is no field for a condition, a treatment, or a note, and nothing about the visit is ever inserted into the message. A thank-you on a family phone discloses nothing.
The unhappy owner has somewhere to go
The link does not go straight to Google. It opens your Make-It-Right page, which offers two things side by side: a Google review button, and a private message that goes straight to you, under "Something not right? Tell us and we'll make it right."
Every owner sees both. We never ask how they felt first and then decide which to show — that is review gating, and it breaks Google's rules. It is not a filter and it is no guarantee. It is a chance for an owner to raise a concern with you directly — a bill they didn't expect, a follow-up they felt was rushed — and their words reach you by email straight away, while you can still respond with care.
